Going on a year of ownership with my EOS R and it's hands down the most satisfied I've been since getting into this hobby. I've been very happy with the RF 24-105 I purchased in the kit, and have since added the RF 50mm 1.2 which has pretty much lived on the camera the past 4 months. I’d say go with f4, you’ll save money and still be good. I used a 24-70, f4 for years and never had any issues. I mostly shoot weddings, events, and nightlife. Now I have a mirrorless, and use the RF 28-70, f2. You’re going to use it a lot for events. I would recommend having something in your kit with an f1.8-2, like a 50mm. Focus speed is relatively fast, but it definitely usurped by lenses like the Z 70-200 f2.8 S and Z 24-70 f2.8 S. Still, at this price point, I would recommend Nikon users to go for this lens over Especially since the F4 at 200mm is the same length of the f2.8 due to the external zoom. Yeah. The Gm II is very fun to shoot with its internal zoom. Very nice smooth zoom ring, not having to worry about weather/dust sealing all the time and I also like the aperture ring a lot which unfortunately is not on the f4. Includes lens hood. Posted February 15, 2016. I think the 24-70 is more useful for most people and it is not very big as far as these f2.8 lenses go. However, the 16-35mm f4 is really good, and I think I would find for general wandering about taking photos a 16-35 + 50mm + 70+mm lens would work very nicely instead of a 24-70 + 70+mm.
