Recently we got some pretty big news for the upcoming LotR MMO, namely the scheduled release window. The game looks to be coming sooner than expected, potentially playable sometime in 2021/22. As far as I understand as well, the SSG team also maintains a pretty good relationship with the Tolkien Estate. It's an old fashioned MMO that came out over a decade ago, with all the mechanics and limitations that implies. The main selling points are the gorgeous area design and the attention paid to the lore. I read the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings a 4th time after playing the games and I was floored at how close the MMO recreates the world. The game does LOTR great and the story is good but the game hasn't aged well at all and runs abysmally on modern pcs. It's tolerable until you get to Rohan then it just takes a nosedive performance wise because of the wide open areas I guess. Game is also pretty predatory with it's cash shop so be careful with that. Playing as Gollum sounded like it might’ve been a decent pitch for a game, since he’s one of the more interesting and famous characters in J. R. R. Tolkien’s fantasy universe. The Lord of the Rings: Return To Moria is a survival crafting video game set in the Fourth Age of Middle-earth, the iconic fantasy world created by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Simple answer, the game has an active playerbase. The game is good still, and if players could get past the dated graphics and the expensive cost to get into the game , it would probably be a lot more active. This is one of the few mmos I actually read what's going on in the quests and the world. 11.
