GW2 is great to play casually every so often, but that's about it. When you commit to it, you realise that despite the wealth of content, players are concentrated on repetitively completing only a small amount of it. Map completion is excessive and provides little reward.
Everything in the free maps is available to free players, you don't need gliders or mounts. You are not missing any gear, however you do lose some special stats. The only one you'll really miss is Viper stats. You will have limited access to the trade post, only able to buy base items and gear.
Most MMOs use F2P as a marketing tool, but I'm here to clarify: GW2 base game is an extended trial, not a F2P game. PSA: Limitations of Meta Events chest rewards are character bound. Fixed a bug on certain world boss chests that was causing them to drop fewer rewards than intended. These chests can now only be looted once per day, to encourage players to fight multiple bosses and spread out across the world.
